There is nothing quite like the Great British countryside. It’s serene, beautiful, teeming with life and there’s always something new to see wherever you go thanks to the ever changing nature of…well, nature!
We talk about it often, but here at Jordans we’re committed to supporting our local environments and doing our bit to protect the stunning landscapes we call home. This is one of the reasons we’re proud to be a founding supporter of The Prince’s Countryside Fund (PCF), an organisation which helps support the people who care for the countryside. But perhaps what we don’t mention enough is how you can get involved and help.
This year the PCF is celebrating its fifth anniversary alongside National Countryside Week (20th – 26th July).
It’s the perfect opportunity to get involved and do your bit for the PCF, and here are just a few of the ways you can help out:
Organise your own fundraiser
The PCF has fundraising packs containing stacks of great ideas from bake sales to open farm days (well, it is the countryside after all), plus some really useful info on how to raise sponsorship and the info surrounding funding.
Eat, Drink and Be British!
The UK produces mountains of home-grown fresh produce every year so it’s easy to buy local. What’s more is that we’re really lucky to experience such diverse growing seasons which helps to keep our meal times varied and interesting.
You can also purchase products bearing The Prince’s Countryside Fund logo. You’ll be able to spot it on more than 200 yummy foods, including our very own Jordans Cereals.
Donate as little as £3 (or as much as you like!)
Donate online, by text, cheque or via your local Post Office
Visit a PCF Funded Project
The PCF supports a number of projects up and down the country. These span everything from supporting local pubs, schools, farms, village transport networks, apprenticeships and so much more. Find out all about their goals and projects.
Get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
Spend some time exploring your local countryside or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not travel further afield? If you’re stuck for ideas, why not take a look at our favourite Ordnance Survey Walks, or top camping spots in the UK?
To support National Countryside Week, some of the Jordans team will get out and about in the beautiful Biggleswade to show our appreciation and support for our charming countryside.
We’d love to hear about your experiences and see your photos from National Countryside Week so make sure you share them on Facebook and Twitter #NCW15
