Chef to the A-listers Gurapreet Bains shares his moreish recipe for porridge with ginger and honey - the perfect pick-me-up.
Oats with Ginger
“I love these oats. The Ginger and honey make for a right pair: ginger gently tickles the throat whilst honey soothes,” says Gurapreet whose food and recipes focus on taste, health and wellbeing. “Once settled inside, the ensemble of ginger, honey, oats and milk gets to work at comforting the digestive system.”
900ml semi-skimmed milk
honey, to taste
2 teaspoons ground ginger
a pinch of salt
Place all the ingredients into a deep, heavy-based saucepan and mix
well. Bring to the boil over a medium heat, then reduce to a gentle
simmer and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove the pan from the heat and serve immediately.
