We think there are few better ways to start the day than with a bowl of tasty granola, however there’s really more to it than just breakfast. With Christmas coming up, there’s never been a better time to try something new in the kitchen. With this in mind, we’ve put together some granola-themed inspiration that’ll really light up your dinner table this festive season – almost as much as that neighbour’s house down the street that’s resembling Blackpool illuminations!
Warm Cranberry Granola
With all these cold mornings, we can help give your body a kick start, even if your car isn’t having much luck! The trick is to start with something warming. Sprinkle your granola into hot milk and let it soften. Throw in a handful of cranberries, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and ta-dah you have a festive treat to kick start your Christmas.
Granola Fruit Stuffing
If your usual stuffing is a little lacklustre, make your roast magical this Christmas by mixing our delicious granola with a classic fruit stuffing of apples, oranges and raisins. Just be sure to make extra as your guests will definitely be coming back for more!
Not another nut roast! Here’s a veggie alternative for those who fancy something different to their yearly nut roast. Mix crushed granola with breadcrumbs or day old bread and then stir with onion, leek and a vegetable broth. You can also add in mushrooms for a lovely variation in texture. Finally, bake the mixture in a loaf tin and you will have a surprise option ready for anyone not tempted by turkey.
Granola and Goat’s Cheese Brussel Sprouts
For those who feel that they spend half of Christmas dinner force feeding sprouts to the younger side of the family, we have a fab solution. Roast your Brussel Sprouts and chop them into tempting pieces by adding granola and warm goat’s cheese. This clever disguise will have those sprout-phobes coming back for more.
Vanilla and Cinnamon Granola Cheesecake
There’s always room for pudding! So put your feet up, sit back and lounge out (onesie optional!) with this tasty treat. Place some granola into a food bag and give it a good whack with a rolling pin. Mix this with melted butter until it is well combined and you will have the perfect cheesecake base. This granola base will go with almost any type of cheesecake filling but given it’s the festive season go for vanilla and then dust with cinnamon to give the perfect end to Christmas Day.
