Only the best natural ingredients make it into our cereals here at Jordans. We believe that not only do they taste better, but they’ll help you feel better too! Our cereals are created from the field - no jiggery-pokery in a lab for us - and we think that’s the way it should be: simple, natural solutions to liven your mornings with no mystery involved. We always steer well clear of added chemicals or suspicious additives. We like to think that this same natural philosophy can apply to your mornings, to wake up and start the day right. So, for a happier, healthier and more energised morning, why not try our tips for some more natural get-up-and-go?
Get into a Sleep Pattern
Waking up bright eyed and bushy tailed starts with the night before – getting to bed nice and early (or at least the same time each night) will help your body to develop its own rhythm and make getting out of bed a little less painful in the morning. Let your body wind down naturally and try to spend the last hour of your day away from any screens, including laptops, TVs and mobile phones – that work email can wait until the morning, as no one wants to fall asleep with their boss in their room! By clearing your bedroom of any distractions, you’ll have a more peaceful and better quality of shut-eye.
Ditch the Alarm Clock
This might sound a bit odd, especially if you have to be up bright and early for work, but ditching the traditional alarm clock is one of the best things you can do for yourself. According to research, the alarm clock polled as one of the most hated must-have inventions, right after the mobile phone.
A traditional alarm sound can actually make us drowsier and more disoriented as it disturbs our natural sleep cycle, which can contribute to stress. In fact, studies show that those who wake up to a traditional alarm clock blaring can be more likely to have higher blood pressure and an increased heart rate compared to those who wake up in their own time. Of course, not all of us have a schedule that allows us to wake leisurely, so using an alarm clock that plays music or a light emitting alarm clock can help us wake up more naturally, with less stress. The light alarm clock works by replicating sunrise, slowly filling your room with light and making the perfect environment to help you wake up bright and early. Let’s face it, a sunrise can be a pretty beautiful sight.
Up and at ‘em!
Once you’ve managed to prise your eyes open, get out of bed immediately. Yes, we know it’s far too tempting to lie in bed and keep hitting the snooze button but this can actually decrease your energy for getting up! Ease the process along by opening windows, curtains and blinds, and turning on the lights, which will all help your body adjust to the new day. A blast of that fresh British air is surely going to help.
Water and Exercise
Having a glass of water next to your bed is a good idea – taking a big sip as you wake up can help your body with those first few difficult minutes. Next get straight into your workout gear! Exercise first thing can give you more energy, and can even help you wake up fresher the next day too.
Both the water and the exercise can help to stimulate your metabolism and make you feel more alert, and even help you burn more energy throughout the day.
Breakfast Really Is Important
All that exercise will have consumed a lot of energy, so getting a nutritious breakfast is absolutely vital.
