THE WILDLIFE TRUSTS
There are 47 individual Wildlife Trusts covering the whole of the UK. All are working for an environment rich in wildlife for everyone. The wildlife Trusts have more than 800,000 members including 150,000 members of junior branch Wildlife Watch. The vision is to create A Living Landscape and secure Living Seas. The Wildlife Trusts manage around 2,300 nature reserves and every year advise thousands of landowners and organisations on how to manage their land for wildlife. The Wildlife Trusts also run marine conservation projects around the UK, collecting vital data on the state of our seas and celebrating our amazing marine wildlife. Every year they work with thousands of schools and our nature reserves and visitor centres receive millions of visitors. Each Wildlife Trust is working within its local communities to inspire people about the future of their area: their own Living Landscapes and Living Seas. Wildlife Trust advisors are helping all the Jordans farmers build specific farm plans to help wildlife as part of the Jordans Farm Partnership.
LEAF - LINKING ENVIRONMENT AND FARMING
LEAF is the leading organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming. They work with farmers, the food industry, scientists and consumers, to inspire and enable sustainable farming that is prosperous, enriches the environment and engages local communities. LEAF do this through developing and promoting Integrated Farm Management in three core pillars:
Facilitating knowledge generation and exchange amongst farmers and researchers through our network of LEAF Demonstration Farms and Innovation Centres; farm business management tools and events.
Developing market opportunities through the LEAF Marque Standard.
Engaging the public in sustainable food and farming through Open Farm Sunday, Open Farm School Days, resources and training.
All farms involved in the Jordans Farm Partnership are already doing great things for wildlife. LEAF’s role is to support farmers to build on this commitment and deliver sustainable farming across the whole farm, through LEAF’s Integrated Farm Management principles as well as gain market recognition through the LEAF Marque.
THE PRINCE’S COUNTRYSIDE FUND
We have a long heritage of working with British farmers and we’re proud to say that we were among the founding supporters of the Prince’s Countryside Fund, which aims to ensure the countryside continues to flourish.
The Prince’s Countryside Fund is really close to our heart, providing grants for projects that support the people who care for the countryside. Their mission is to secure a sustainable future for our countryside by supporting British agriculture, the UK’s rural communities, and the wider rural economy.
The support is really wide ranging, from providing access to training opportunities for budding young farmers and supporting the development of village shops and post offices, to helping those during times of crisis such as the severe flooding of 2014.
