The Big Cake Off
Posted by Rachel Marston 20 Aug 2009 4:55pm
Yesterday we held our first 'Cake Off' in the office. The idea is that we will hold regular cake baking competitions and try and raise a little bit of money for charity.
There was a lot of rivalry in the run up to the first cake off, with heated discussions about the art of baking being held in the kitchen during tea making. The four volunteers, Carol, Lisa, James and Hannah have set a high standard for anyone who follows next month. To vote for the tastiest cake we donated a £1 each and then got tasting.
After a great deal of heated debate, James with his plum, chocolate chip and hazelnut cake was crowned as our first champion cake baker and presented with a lovely lilac Jordans apron. Hannah was awarded a special prize for her amazing effort of producing her bee hive shaped cake.
Oh and we raised £24 for Everyman, a charity dedicated to stamping out male cancers as requested by James. If you have favourite cake recipe you would like one of the team to try and bake then please send it in. Ben assures us his banana cake is unbeatable so until next month...
