We love River Cottage because they care about where food comes from and how it is made, just as we have done since the Jordan family started making breakfast cereals in 1972. The Jordan family really know how to separate the wheat from the chaff, after all they bought Holme Mills in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire in 1855.

Over 100 years of flour milling experience has given us unrivalled expertise in wholegrain cereals. Bill & David Jordan, the fifth generation of the Jordan family, took a leap of faith and started making granola in the 1970’s. We have never looked back. Their aim has always been to produce great tasting food without damaging the environment. We do this thanks to the fifty nature friendly farmers who grow cereals for us.

The work they do on their farms means every time you pour yourself a bowl of our cereal you are doing your bit to make the countryside a happier place. And, like River Cottage we do our best to support as many local community groups and initiatives as possible, especially those promoting healthy eating and sustainably grown good food.

Growing up at Holme Mills, watching local farmers deliver grain to be made into flour had a huge influence on Bill & David Jordan.

So when they started making breakfast cereals they wanted to work with British farmers to ensure the cereals and bars Jordans make not only taste great, but are made in a sustainable, nature friendly way too.

In 1985 Bill helped to establish Conservation Grade™, a pioneering farming scheme which helps to increase wildlife numbers. We believe creating a countryside full of wildlife is a happier countryside, and through scientific research we know that the best way to increase wildlife numbers is by providing the right kind of habitats. Nature friendly farmers do this by dedicating 10% of their land to conservation, like growing wildflowers, putting up bird boxes and planting hedgerows, so wildlife like bees, butterflies and birds can thrive.
