Meeting the Bees

A few months ago we ran a competition through our newsletter offering members of the Jordans fan club the chance to meet the Fortnum & Mason bees. They live on the roof of the Piccadilly store in four beautifully constructed hives. The winners met me for a breakfast of Bircher muesli (made with our Fruit & Nut Muesli), hot crumpets and plenty of fruit, all served with a selection of honey. Fortnum's honey buyer Jonathan talked us through the differences between some of the honey he buys on behalf of Fortnums then we went up onto the roof to meet the bees. Despite the drizzly damp day the bees were in action, foraging for food within central London. From the rooftop you can see a surprising number of green patches which are of course the numerous parks the bees visit in search of pollen and nectar. All the winners seemed to have a good day, below are a couple of thier comments;
"I would like to thank you for a wonderful morning, I enjoyed my visit to Fortnum & Masons no end, found the talk on honey extremely interesting, then further enjoyed it whilst I thought about all that was said whilst walking along Regent Street admiring the buildings."
"Just to say that I really enjoyed this morning. I've been thinking about keeping bees for a while and it's good to meet Jonathon and the honey bees of Fortnum and Masons. Many thanks for organizing this great competition with its really unique and lovely prize and then picking me!"
