Feel Good Be Happy

The pumpkin found a home

Posted by Rachel Marston 03 Nov 2009 10:09am

Anyone visiting our recipe pages may have already seen the huge pumpkin my father grew on his allotment. I found a home for it when my colleague Andrew asked if his family could carve it for Halloween. As you can see the results were nothing short of frightening! I hope a huge vat of pumpkin soup was also generated in the process.

On another note I have just been reading through a 'How to Carve the Perfect Pumpkin' guide in a local parish magazine and have found this useful tip for anyone who would like to preserve their pumpkin. Apparently; 'Vaseline will preserve your masterpiece - it seals in the moisture, and slows down the growth of mould. Popping your pumpkin in the fridge each night will also help.' I don't think there would have been a fridge big enough to take the pumpkin dad grew.
