Being Nature Friendly

Farming at Christmas

Posted by Rachel Marston 27 Nov 2008 11:25am

“Even at Christmas there is still work to be done on the farm, like feeding livestock. We have plenty of sheep that need to be fed so that keeps us pretty busy. In December we are also harvesting sugar beet and sending nature friendly wheat, barley and oats to the mill in Bedford to be cleaned ready for Jordans to make them into muesli and other cereals. Last night I saw a barn owl out hunting, and the buzzards are always very active looking for food too. I don’t mind farming in the winter, we just have to get on with it, the animals need feeding no matter what the weather is doing, and the crops need tending too.” To see Rob talking about why he farms nature friendly crops for Jordans click here.
