Being Nature Friendly

Get Composting

Posted by Rachel Marston 19 Jan 2010 10:02am

Plans to help reduce household waste have been drawn up by the Environment Secretary, Hilary Benn. To help prevent the 8.3 million tonnes of wasted food we in the UK throw away each year households will be encouraged to compost thier leftovers and waste, or councils may begin collecting food waste for conversion to energy through anaerobic digestion. Two thirds of people are already beginning to seperate food waste from other rubbish but only 137 of 4000 councils are collecting food waste seperately. Great news we say, and you can find out more about how and what to compost at Love Food Hate Waste but what we would really like to know is would youu be interested in a competition to win a composter? Let us know because if lots of people do that is certainly something we can try and arrange for you.
